Rant: That viral 'productivity hack' video just made me waste 2 hours of my life

I watched a 30-second clip from some guy in his mom's basement who swore his '5-minute inbox zero method' was life-changing. Tried it out on my Wednesday morning emails and ended up deleting a contract offer by accident. Has anyone else fallen for these stupid shortcuts that just cause more problems?

Whoa hold on, sounds like user error not the method's fault. I've been doing that inbox zero thing for months now and it saved my career. You probably just rushed through it without reading the instructions all the way through. The guy in the video clearly says multiple times to double check before you click delete.

Oh man, I feel for you, Charles. It's rough when you think you're following a system to the letter and it backfires. I've been in those shoes more times than I care to count. It's hard not to get frustrated when something that's supposed to help you ends up causing more stress. You're right that the video says to double check, but sometimes in the heat of the moment with a full inbox you just want to get it done. Don't beat yourself up over it too much. These things happen to the best of us.
