Stumbled on a video where a guy was 'reviewing' a spoonful of oregano oil live

I was scrolling waiting for my mower blades to sharpen and this dude is gagging on a spoon of oregano oil claiming it cures his allergies. Turns out it was just a bit for engagement and he spit it out off camera after 20 seconds. Has anyone else fallen for one of these weird wellness trends on short video just because the person looked serious?

Bought a bottle of oregano oil after watching a guy sneeze into his elbow and swear it cleared his sinuses in three days. Bottle sat in my cabinet for six months because the taste is like licking a mechanic's floor mat. Ended up using it to kill mold on a plant pot instead. That stuff works for plant fungus but not for people allergies.

Disagree completely with you on this one... I mixed a drop of oregano oil into a spoonful of honey every night for two weeks last spring and my seasonal allergies practically vanished. Yeah it tastes like someone distilled a pine tree and mixed it with battery acid but you just gotta chase it with orange juice. My neighbor swears by putting a drop under her tongue the second she feels a tickle in her throat and she hasn't had a full blown cold in like three years. Think you just gotta get past the first few days of gagging then your body gets used to it.

Funny you mention the taste because oregano oil is actually meant to be diluted. Pure oregano oil straight up is asking for trouble with your mouth and throat. You're supposed to mix it with a carrier oil like olive or coconut oil first. That's why it tastes so harsh and probably why it sat on your shelf for six months. The stuff is potent enough to kill bacteria on contact but that doesn't mean it's safe to just drip it on your tongue undiluted. Diluting it with honey like ruby did at least cuts the burn some but still not great on the stomach lining if you do it long term.
