That cooking hack trend made me smoke out my kitchen last night

I tried that viral 'freeze your garlic in olive oil' trick from a 30 second clip, poured it straight into a hot pan, and it exploded like a grease bomb. Had to air out my apartment for two hours with all the windows open and the smoke alarm screaming. Anyone else fall for these shortcuts and regret it instantly?

Did you see that article in the Times about how these viral hacks are often just dangerous? I read it after my own kitchen disaster a few months back. @wader71 I feel your pain, that cheese shredding trick is basically asking for a visit to urgent care. I tried the frozen garlic thing and ended up with a fire extinguisher bill and a smoky smelling house for days. The worst part is I still have a whole tray of those garlic cubes in my freezer that I'm too scared to use now.
