The 47-second ASMR video that made me turn off my own sink
Last Tuesday I clicked a trending clip of someone organizing ice cubes by size in slow motion. The thing went sideways when the last cube cracked and the audio glitched into a demonic hum for 3 full seconds. I actually checked my phone speaker and then watched it 4 more times to make sure it wasn't a fever dream. Real question: is the appeal the satisfying part or the random breakdown that keeps people watching? Has anyone else gotten hooked purely because a clip glitched out at the end?

The glitch part is the only reason I clicked past the ice cubes. Read somewhere that our brains get hooked on pattern breaks, it's why those "wrong" videos always blow up. So yeah, you're not alone, the demon hum is what made it worth watching.

Pattern breaks are cool and all, but sometimes a glitch is just a glitch. People read way too much into a weird video and turn it into some brain science thing. The demon hum probably just means the audio got messed up during editing, not that our brains are locked onto chaos. Videos blow up because they're weird, not because of some hidden psychology trick. Is it really that deep or do we just like being spooked for a minute?
