Vent: my nephew said he stopped watching podcasts and just watches the clips now, and I cannot tell if that is genius or sad
He pulled up a 3 minute clip of a 4 hour interview, called it 'the good part,' and I spent the next hour wondering if we all just want the highlight reel or if we are losing the ability to sit through anything long form.
Read an article last month about how clip channels on YouTube and TikTok are pulling in way more views than the full episodes they steal from, and some podcasters are actually fine with it because that is how they get found. My brother does the same thing your nephew does, watches maybe ten clips a week and never touches the actual show. I get why it happens, our attention spans are shot and there is too much out there to keep up with. But something gets lost when you skip the boring parts, because half the good stuff comes from the buildup. A highlight without the slow parts is just a joke without a setup.
