Found a $15 hostel in Medellin that included breakfast and airport pickup

Last March I booked this place in El Poblado through Hostelworld and honestly thought it was a scam until I walked in the door. Has anyone else found a deal that seemed too good to be true but actually worked out?

Nah, I wouldn't risk my safety for that cheap.

Man, that brings back memories. I once found a $8 a night place in Hanoi that included a motorbike rental. Turned out the beds were basically plywood with a sheet thrown on top and the "breakfast" was a single banana and a cup of instant coffee. But you know what? The guy running it was this retired cyclist who gave me a hand drawn map of all the best pho spots in the city. Still think about that map sometimes, even if my back hurt for a week.

Did your checklist include getting the hell out of there if something felt off? Because that's the real trick with these cheap places. Most people get hung up on the price tag or the safety stuff but they ignore the biggest factor which is how easy it is to just leave. If you book a $15 place and the vibes are bad you walk out the door and find somewhere else. Youre not trapped. The real value in super cheap hostels is that they free up cash for the stuff that actually matters like good food and tours. Hotels that cost $50 a night lock you in harder because you feel like you need to get your moneys worth. Thats the angle nobody talks about.
