Found out the free city walking tours in Prague are actually pay-what-you-want

I was looking at a travel blog for Eastern Europe and it mentioned the 'Free Walking Tour Prague' company. The guide said you just show up, no booking needed. At the end, you give the guide cash based on what you think it was worth. My friend did it and gave 10 euros for a 3-hour tour, which is way less than the 25 euro fixed price tours. Has anyone else found a good pay-what-you-want tour in another city?

Berlin has a few of those tours too, from what I've heard.

Ever get the feeling those tours are just for people who can't read a map? I'd probably get lost on one.

My cousin got lost on a guided tour in Rome last year. The guide was using a map from 1998 and they ended up at a laundromat. Some tours really are for people who can't read a map, including the guides.

Wouldn't that be a mess though, getting lost on a tour meant for people who get lost? I can see it now, me holding up a map upside down while the guide points the wrong way down a one-way street. Honestly though, I'd probably be that person who signs up just so I don't have to unfold a giant map in the middle of a sidewalk. I got turned around in my own grocery store last week, so guided tours might be my only hope.
