Hostel kitchen hits different after the $15 dinner trick
I used to blow like $30 a night on food when I traveled. Last month in Lisbon I stayed at a hostel where this guy from Argentina showed me how he cooks big batches of rice and beans for the whole week. He spent $15 total at the local market and ate better than me who was hitting up tourist restaurants every night. The kicker is he used the hostel's free spices and oil, plus he traded extra portions for people's leftover veggies. I tried it in Barcelona for 4 days and my grocery bill was $28 instead of $120. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has found cheap meal tricks that work in places without a full kitchen, just a microwave and a kettle?
