Just spent $40 on a portable clothesline for my trip to Lisbon, best money I ever didn't spend on laundry.

Remember to check the local tap water before you hang anything up. I had a white shirt turn faintly orange in Rome from the mineral content, which kind of defeated the whole money-saving purpose.

Best money I ever didn't spend" is such a good feeling. I once bought a cheap universal sink plug for hostels and felt like a genius for weeks. Those little travel hacks just make everything easier.

Felt like a genius for weeks" over a sink plug? I mean it's handy but maybe we need to lower the bar for genius moments.

Read somewhere that the mineral thing is especially bad in Southern Europe, some people bring a little water softener packet just for washing. Guess it depends how much you care about your clothes versus just saving a few euros. That's a whole other level of travel hacking I haven't gotten into yet.
