My cheap travel pillow popped on a red-eye to Denver, so I stuffed it with a hoodie from my bag.

Has anyone found a durable inflatable pillow under $15 that actually lasts more than a couple flights?

Roberth66 makes a good point about the timing of the failure - it's always at 3am over some random state when you're half asleep. That's why I think the hoodie trick is actually the smartest move, since you're already packing it anyway and it doubles as a backup plan. Morganmartinez really nailed it with that sweatshirt idea, cheap pillows just aren't worth the gamble when you're stuck in a middle seat for six hours.

I always bought the cheapest ones too until my last one leaked on a bus to Chicago. Now I just use a rolled up sweatshirt, it's free and never pops.

Ever notice how the cheap version always fails at the worst possible time? You end up paying more in the end, either in money or hassle.

Actually, those cheap pillows are perfect because you can just toss and replace them without caring.
