Paid for a 'skip the line' pass in Rome and it was a total scam

I was at the Colosseum last fall and a guy in a vest sold me a ticket for 50 euros, saying it would get me past the main queue. Turns out it was just a regular entry ticket you could buy online for 24 euros. The line he 'skipped' me past was for security, which everyone has to go through anyway. Has anyone else run into these fake fast pass sellers in Europe?

Wait, he charged you 50 euros for a 24 euro ticket?

Bought a fake Rolex from a guy in a trench coat once, same energy. At least @quinn606 can appreciate that you got a premium experience of getting ripped off in a historic setting, complete with a side of regret. Must be nice to pay double just to learn the security line is the great equalizer, no matter what vest you're wearing. I'd say you got a bargain on a life lesson, but even that feels expensive.

Always buy tickets from the official website or a real ticket office. Those guys in vests are just scammers reselling basic tickets for double.

But what if you're desperate to get in?
