Last summer I watched three girls try to check into a place in Lisbon at 6pm and the front desk just shrugged, said they overbooked and sent them to some sketchy spot across town. That's when I realized hostels run on a totally different clock than hotels. It's like the whole traveling world has moved to this FOMO thing where you gotta grab everything the second it drops or you lose out. Everyone's so scared of missing the window that we all end up treating basic stuff like it's some kind of black market deal. So yeah, people plan hostel bookings like it's a military op for a reason, it's just how everything works now.
