PSA: the retired guy at the Phoenix bus depot told me to skip the $9 airport sandwich and pack a loaf instead
Last month I was waiting on a 6am Greyhound out of Phoenix and this older guy next to me pulled a whole loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter out of his duffel. He told me he has not paid for airport or depot food in 6 years and figures he keeps about $300 a trip that way. I did the math on my last three trips and I was spending $40 to $60 just on sad pretzels and coffee between stops. Now I pack a loaf, some fruit, and a refillable bottle and it covers me for two travel days. What cheap food do you all bring that survives a long bus ride without getting gross?
