Swapped my hostel dorm for a campground and saved $200 in 4 nights
I always thought camping while traveling was too much hassle with gear, but renting a tent spot in Barcelona for $12 a night beat paying $62 for a bunk bed. Has anyone else made the switch mid-trip and regretted or loved it?

Yo, that's awesome! I did the same thing in Rome a couple years back, swapped my hostel for a campground right outside the city and saved like $150 over a week. It felt a little weird at first not having a locker or anything, but the peace and quiet made up for it big time.

Oh man, that's a huge difference in price! I totally get why you'd make that switch. I did something similar in Portugal once and honestly, it was one of the best decisions I made on that trip. The campground I found ended up being way quieter than the hostel, plus I got to wake up to the ocean instead of someone snoring. It did take a little getting used to, like figuring out where to shower and all that, but for the savings, it was totally worth it. Not having to worry about roommates or hostel rules was a huge bonus too. I'd say you made a smart move, especially in a city like Barcelona where everything is expensive.

Yeah, the hostel snoring thing gets old fast. I've done the campground swap in a few cities too, and the quiet is honestly the best part. Finding a spot to shower isn't that bad once you figure out the routine, usually just a quick walk to the facilities or a nearby gym you can pay for a day pass. Sounds like you made the right call for sure, especially with Barcelona prices being what they are.
