Cash envelope method beat my budgeting app in 2 weeks
I tracked every penny in an app for 6 months and still overspent by $80 on takeout last month. Switched to cash envelopes for groceries and fun money in March, and seeing the actual bills disappear made me stop cold. Has anyone else found physical money harder to ignore than numbers on a screen?
Tried the cash envelopes for a solid month and honestly it just did not stick for me. I'd pull out $60 for the week, lose track of what I spent by Wednesday, and then have no clue where it went since there's no record to check later. The app at least shows me the damage in real time, so maybe the trick is the person, not the paper.
