I finally broke my habit of buying coffee out every morning

I was spending about $85 a month at the cafe near my office and it was killing my grocery budget. I bought a $30 french press and a bag of beans from Target, and now I make it at home in 5 minutes. Has anyone else found a small swap like this that actually stuck?

@miles_robinson20 you hit on something there about the ritual part. That's what made it stick for me too. The whole process of grinding the beans, waiting for the water to boil, pouring it slow. It's almost like a little meditation before the day starts. And yeah, the money savings are real, especially once you stop buying creamers and syrups from the drive-thru.

That $85 a month number really hits home. I did the math on my own coffee habit once and it was almost $100, felt like a punch in the gut. Switched to a simple pour-over setup and now my morning routine feels more like a ritual than a rushed stop.

My friend did the same thing and she said she’s actually saving money now because she stopped impulse-buying expensive cappuccinos at cafes. Pour over or French press really does turn it into a little morning moment.
