I finally told my friend her $5 latte habit wasnt why shes broke, and it got awkward
We were sitting at a diner in Reno last month and she was stressed about not saving anything, so I mentioned that the $9 she spends on coffee every workday adds up to about $2,000 a year, and she just got quiet. My point was that tracking the small stuff can be a real start, but she shot back that rent and daycare are what actually drain her, and skipping coffee wouldnt fix that. Now I keep going back and forth on it, because tracking little buys did help me see where my money went, but calling them the main problem feels wrong when rent is $1,600. Is it worth pushing the small wins for someone whos stuck on big bills, or should I just drop it?
