My coworker insisted I was wasting money on a meal prep service - 3 months later I'm down $200 a month on takeout

My coworker Sarah told me I was throwing cash away on HelloFresh when I could just shop smarter. She showed me her system of buying bulk rice and frozen veggies for the week. I tried her way for two weeks and ended up ordering pizza three times because I hated eating the same thing over and over. Went back to my meal kit service and now I spend $340 a month instead of $540 on takeout and random grocery runs. Has anyone else had a friend's "money saving" advice actually cost them more?

Honestly I was one of those people who was always like "just meal prep" until I actually tried it. I'd spend $60 on ingredients for the week and still end up getting fast food because I didn't feel like eating the same chili for five days. Your friend means well but some of us just need that variety to actually stick with it.

Isn't it funny how our brains work against the best laid plans? @miles_robinson20 I've noticed that whole "one size fits all" advice thing happens with pretty much everything - budgeting, exercise, even getting enough sleep. We just all need to find what actually clicks for us instead of trying to force something that feels like a chore.

Your friend meant well but people acting like one system works for everyone drives me crazy.
