My gym membership sat unused for a full year and I just saw the bank statement

I kept paying $45 a month to FitZone thinking I'd go back 'next week' but I never did. That's over $500 gone for nothing but good intentions. Has anyone else had this happen and found a better way to stay active without the big monthly bill?

What about trying free stuff first? My friend got into running using just a phone app for routes, and I do bodyweight workouts in my living room from YouTube. It makes it easier to quit the gym guilt free if you already have a routine that works at home.

That's smart, fiona_kim97, reminds me of when I tried yoga with a free app and pulled something in my back.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I tried one of those apps a few years back and ended up hurting my shoulder doing some stretch I probably wasn't ready for. What really worked for me was just walking. I started with a simple goal of 15 minutes a day around the block, then gradually added time. Eventually I was doing 45 minutes to an hour, and it helped my back more than any gadget or class ever did. It's amazing what just moving your body consistently can do, even if it feels boring at first.
