My sister said my 'fun money' line was a total trap
I used to put $100 a month into a 'fun money' bucket for random stuff. She pointed out I was still spending it on dumb things like overpriced coffee and just moving the guilt. So I changed it to a 'real fun' rule: the money has to go toward a specific experience, like a concert ticket or a new board game. Last month I saved it for two months and got tickets to see a band I love. Do you think having a strict purpose for fun money kills the fun, or does it make the spending actually feel good?

But honestly... sometimes the best fun is the dumb little stuff you don't plan for. What if you see a food truck you love or your friends suddenly want to go out? Now you gotta say no or feel bad for breaking your own rule. That strict purpose can turn fun into another chore you have to plan for.

Remember what happened to my friend last week? She was so strict with her budget that she missed out on a random ice cream run with us... kinda like what @quinnm77 said, it just made her feel bad later.

Moving the guilt" is such a perfect way to put it. Your new rule sounds way better, like you actually get a fun memory instead of just a receipt.
