Took 6 months to admit my $50 grocery budget wasn't working
I kept trying to force a $50 weekly grocery budget on myself and was constantly running out by Thursday. Finally realized I needed to bump it to $65 after tracking how much pantry stuff I was actually going through. Anyone else had to adjust a number they were stubborn about?

My friend spent three months convinced she could do $40 a week and ended up living off oatmeal and peanut butter. She finally cracked when her kid asked why dinner was just "beige.

The real budget killer is needing to eat like a human around other people.

Yeah, I feel this. I was dead set on $60 for the longest time and kept telling myself I just needed to meal prep better. Finally caved and went to $75 after I realized I was skipping breakfast and eating sad lunches just to make the numbers work. It was the condiments and spices that got me, I kept convincing myself I could make do without restocking but then everything tasted bland. Now I actually have enough for a decent dinner on Saturday night instead of scraping by on eggs and rice.
