Used to eat out for lunch every single day at $12-15 a pop...

Switched to meal prepping on Sundays about 6 months ago after my credit card statement showed $380 just on lunches that month. Has anyone else seen their food budget drop like crazy after making that switch?

@holly709 makes a good point about mixing it up. This whole meal prep versus eating out thing is just another example of how we all find different ways to handle the same problem, like how some people budget with cash while others swear by apps. Your mileage may vary, but once you get the hang of it and find a few recipes that actually taste good reheated, the savings really do pile up faster than you'd expect.

$380 just on lunches" is wild but honestly meal prep isn't for everyone. I tried it and ended up bored out of my mind eating the same thing three days in a row, so I just cut back to eating out twice a week instead.

Ngl I kinda disagree with you on that one. Meal prep doesn't have to be boring if you just mix it up a little. I prep like 3 different meals on Sunday and freeze them so I'm not eating the same thing every day. Honestly $380 on lunches is a lot of money you could put toward something else. Even cutting down to twice a week is a win though, you're saving a good chunk compared to what you were doing before.
