Found my 2018 bullet journal and wow the difference is wild

Back then I was drawing out every single habit tracker by hand with color coding and now I just mark a dot if I drank water. Has anyone else gone from super elaborate spreads to basically nothing over a few years?

The water dot thing is actually pretty smart though, you cut out all that extra fluff and just need the info. I went from spending an hour every Sunday drawing out weekly spreads with washi tape and stickers to just jotting down 3 tasks on a sticky note. It's like once you realize the habit tracker doesn't magically make you do the thing, the whole elaborate setup starts feeling like homework instead of help.

Ditched the whole color coded key system and washi tape border setup after like 4 months. Now I just write the date and a single sentence about whatever I actually did that day. The fancy spreads were basically me avoiding the real work by making it look pretty.

Did you also spend like 20 minutes picking the perfect pen color for each category too? I did the same thing with my 2019 one, full on coloring in little boxes and drawing borders. Then I realized that time could have been spent actually drinking the water or doing the task. Now I just use a single ballpoint pen and write the date and maybe one word, like "walked" or "nope." The trick is to keep it so simple that you have zero reason to skip it. If doing the tracker takes longer than doing the thing, you've got it backwards.
