Found my old bullet journal from 2021. Cringed a little.
Last week I dug out my first bullet journal from three years ago. It was a plain dotted notebook from Target, nothing fancy. The spreads were so overcomplicated. Like 15 color codes and washi tape everywhere. I barely used it past February. Now I keep it simple. Three colors max. Habit tracker on one page. No stickers. Has anyone else looked back and totally changed their style?

Man that is painfully relatable. My first one had a full color key with like 20 symbols. I spent more time making it look good than actually using it. Now I just use a black pen and a ruler, done.

And that's the thing, isn't it? You realize pretty quick that the fancier version just gets in the way of what you're actually trying to do.

Oh, you're definitely not alone there. I think it's just part of how we learn what actually works for us versus what we think is supposed to work. It's the same way with so many things in life - we start out loading up on gear and fancy extras, then slowly strip it all back once we figure out what really matters.
