Had a notebook meltdown at a coffee shop last Tuesday and it changed my whole system

I was sitting at a local place downtown working on my monthly spread when my fountain pen just went crazy and bled through five pages. The ink completely ruined my habit tracker and part of my meal planning section. Now I only use fountain pens at home on my desk and carry a plain ballpoint when I'm out. Has anyone else had a pen disaster in a public place that made you rethink your whole carry setup?

Have you tried keeping a cheap gel pen in your bag for emergencies? I've been burned by pricey pens more times than I care to count, so I just grab whatever is lying around at the counter now. A ballpoint might not feel fancy, but it won't ruin your whole month either.

You ever try a Pilot G2? They're like a dollar each and they write smooth for months. I keep a couple stashed in my car and my desk drawer at home.
