I finally stopped trying to make my weekly spread look perfect

Last month, I was so focused on drawing neat boxes and using three colors that I missed two appointments. Now I just use a pencil and one pen, and my planner works better. Has anyone else found that simpler layouts help you keep track of things?

Ugh, seriously though. I spent like two hours one Sunday making these fancy color-coded spreads with little doodles in the corners. Turned out I was so busy making the planner pretty that I never actually looked at it past Tuesday. Now I just scribble my schedule down in black pen on a blank page, and I actually know where I'm supposed to be. It's like the simpler the system, the more my brain actually pays attention to it.

Less stuff to mess up.

My old car was basically just an engine and wheels, and it ran forever.

Totally feel you. I got so caught up in making things look nice that I forgot what they were for. Samrodriguez has a point, less stuff really is less to mess up.
