I just counted how many pens I've used up in my bullet journal
It's 37. I started my current journal in January and I honestly thought I was only on my third or fourth. I guess I do a lot more color coding and doodling than I realized. Anyone else ever been shocked by their own pen consumption?

Wow, 37 pens is wild. I've noticed I do the same thing with stuff like dish soap or coffee beans, where I think I'm using a normal amount but then I run out way faster than expected. It makes me wonder what else I'm just burning through without noticing. Do you think tracking things like this changes how you use them?

Burning through without noticing" is exactly the problem. Once you start tracking, you can't unsee how much you waste. It definitely makes you slow down and think.

Tracking my coffee spending was a real eye opener. Started making it at home more often instead of buying it out. The habit change stuck once I saw the numbers.

Oh come on, is it really that deep? I mean yeah you might go through dish soap faster if you don't pay attention, but tracking every little thing you use sounds exhausting and probably not worth the mental energy long term. I think the real trick is just being a little more mindful without turning your whole life into a spreadsheet.
