My 6 month old BuJo habit fell apart after I added a time tracker

I started bullet journaling last January and everyone kept saying how time tracking changed their life. So I added a little bar graph for how I spent each hour. Two weeks in I realized I was spending more time coloring in those tiny boxes than actually doing the things I planned. The tracker stressed me out so bad that I stopped opening my BuJo for three months. Did anyone else find that certain trackers just kill the whole system for you?

Oh wow, that's a lot of drama over some colored boxes. Maybe just skip the tracker and use the notebook for stuff you actually enjoy?

Exactly. People get so caught up in the perfect setup that they forget the whole point is just to use the notebook. You see it all the time where someone spends more time decorating the pages than actually writing down what matters. It's like buying a fancy toolbox but never fixing anything with it. Just grab a notebook and a pen and write whatever you want, no system needed. The real value is in the doing, not the planning to do it.

Those planners with all the stickers and washi tape are basically art journals at that point, not productivity tools. If you spend more time decorating the layout than actually filling in the dates, you might just like arts and crafts more than staying organized.
