My habit tracker fell apart after 3 months and I'm actually relieved

Started a full bullet journal setup back in March with color coded weekly spreads and a habits page with like 12 rows. Managed to keep the habits page going for exactly 9 weeks before I skipped a Tuesday and then just gave up on the whole page. Felt guilty about it for a while but then realized I was spending more time redrawing the grid than actually doing the habits. Now I just keep a monthly list in the margin and cross things off when I remember. Anyone else ditch the fancy layouts for something way simpler after a few months?

My coworker did the whole color coded thing, bought all the fancy markers and stickers. Lasted 6 weeks before she just started writing "work, sleep, repeat" in chicken scratch. Now she uses a sticky note on her fridge that says "take out trash" and she still forgets half the time.

Reminds me of how everyone swears they’ll meal prep on Sunday and by Thursday they’re eating cereal for dinner. The whole planner aesthetic is basically a hobby, not a system, ya know? @stella22 your coworker found the real sweet spot, which is admitting nobody actually sticks to that stuff long term. Fancy systems always die out because life just gets messy and boring routines win. The sticky note that only says one thing is probably the most honest way to live.
