My habit tracker used to be a mess of half-filled boxes until I switched to color coding by week

After 3 months of staring at a gray blob of partial checkmarks, I started using blue for week 1, green for week 2, orange for week 3, and purple for week 4, and now I can actually see at a glance where I dropped off without squinting - has anyone else tried assigning colors to time blocks instead of categories?

Color coding by time blocks actually made my streaks visible for the first time.

Heard this exact thing from my buddy Mark who tried bullet journaling for like three months. He finally color coded his work blocks in blue and gym in green and said it was the first time he realized his weekends were invisible. Something about seeing those empty Saturday blocks made him actually start scheduling fun stuff instead of just letting days blur together.

Oh MAN, this is SO real. I started doing that exact thing with my planner last year and it was a total wake up call. What worked for me was picking three colors max and keeping it simple - green for work, blue for personal stuff like gym or errands, and YELLOW for social. Seeing a whole week of green blocks with zero yellow was the jolt I needed to actually reach out to people instead of waiting for them to text me first. Also, try leaving one or two empty blocks per day on purpose, it helps you see where you can slide in those small wins like a walk or reading. It's wild how much clearer your priorities get when you actually SEE the color spread staring back at you.
