My weekly spread finally came together after 3 tries

I kept messing up the columns last month, but I switched to using a fine-liner first and then adding the colors later. Has anyone else found that drawing the structure in pencil saves you from tearing out pages?

Wait, you draw the columns with pencil first? I used to think that was a waste of time because I was all about just going for it with the colors right away. But honestly, after ruining three spreads in a row with crooked lines that I had to cover up with stickers, I finally gave in and tried the pencil method. Now I get why people do it, it saves so much frustration and keeps everything neat without having to start over. It's funny how something so simple can completely change your whole setup process.

You ever have a friend who refuses to learn the easy way? My buddy Sarah swore pencil was for cowards. She'd just grab a ruler and a pen and go. Ended up with this one spread where all her columns slanted so bad she tried to fix it with washi tape. Looked like a drunk caterpillar crawled across the page. Next month she showed up with a full pencil set. Said she wasted a whole evening just peeling tape off. Now she won't even start a page without a light sketch first. Funny how we all gotta learn the hard way.
