PSA: My habit tracker was a total lie until I did this one thing

I spent 6 months drawing these fancy habit trackers with washi tape and markers. Problem was I kept forgetting to fill them in by day three. Started just putting a single dot next to each habit at the end of the day. Anyone else just slap a dot and call it done?

Ditched the fancy trackers and started using a simple checklist on my phone notes app. Just check off each habit before I go to bed, no colors or stickers involved. Spent months trying to make my morning routine look pretty, but the dot method was the only thing that actually got me to brush my teeth and drink water before noon. The plain black checkmark works way better than any washi tape ever did.

@alicer53 A whole THREE days of blank space and you just gave up? That's brutal, I would have been staring at those empty dots like a horror movie every night until I fixed it. Please tell me you picked it back up again.

That dot method is GENUINELY the only thing that's ever worked for me too. But here's my question - what do you do when you forget to put the dot down? That's where my whole system falls apart, like last week when I realized I hadn't marked anything for three days straight and just gave up entirely. Do you have a backup plan for those "blank brain" days or do you just roll with it and start fresh?
