Showerthought: I had to pick between a daily log and a weekly spread for my new job.
Started a new job in Phoenix about two months ago, and my old bullet journal setup just wasn't cutting it. I had to choose between sticking with my detailed daily logs or switching to a weekly spread to see the whole week at once. I picked the weekly spread because I needed to plan meetings and deadlines further out. I drew it out on a Monday with a simple grid, and it felt weird at first not writing a new page every morning. But after three weeks, I can see my whole workload way clearer, and I'm not missing small tasks as much. The only thing I miss is the space for little notes from each day. Has anyone else switched their main layout for a new job? How did you keep track of daily details?

Ever see someone try to fix a system that's not broken? My friend switched to a fancy weekly planner for her office job and lost all her quick, on-the-fly notes. She ended up adding a tiny sticky note column on the side for those daily bits, which saved the whole setup.

Switching to a weekly spread was a total game changer for me, it forced me to plan ahead instead of just reacting each morning. I actually tried @nina_taylor's sticky note trick but found it made my pages a mess, all those little papers falling off. What really clicked was adding a single blank line under each day's schedule, just enough room for one urgent note without cluttering the whole view.

That bit about sticky notes for daily details... I actually went the other way. I tried adding a notes column to my weekly spread and it just made the page feel cluttered and stressful to look at. What worked for me was keeping a separate, cheap notepad just for those little daily scribbles. I tear the page off at the end of the day, and if something important happened, I transfer it to the weekly page. It keeps my main planner clean for the planned stuff and gives me all the space I need to ramble.
