The two pen rule saved my bujo from chaos
I used to think people who limited their bullet journal to just two pens were being dramatic lol. For like 3 months I was using 8 different colors and a ton of highlighters. Then I went to flip back through my May spread and couldn't read a single thing because all the colors blended together. Now I just use a black Pilot G2 and one blue highlighter for headers and it's actually way easier to find stuff. Has anyone else simplified their setup and found it worked better?

My friend actually tried the whole rainbow spread thing and ended up using so much purple that she couldn't tell if she was looking at tasks or doodles. She switched to just black and one accent color and said it was like seeing clearly for the first time.

Is it really that big of a deal though? So she used too much purple, she figured it out and switched. Happens to everyone.

Yeah but I gotta say, "so much purple that she couldn't tell if she was looking at tasks or doodles" is kind of funny. I mean, that's the whole problem with going all out on colors right? You end up with a messy rainbow mess. But here's the thing - I think your friend kinda missed the point of the rainbow system. It's supposed to be like one color per category, not just dumping purple everywhere. So like, if she used purple for all her personal stuff, it would still be readable because it's grouped. But if she used purple for every single little thing, yeah no wonder it turned into a purple blob. One accent color is definitely simpler though, I get why she likes it.
