Warning: my bullet journal almost got me in trouble at work last week

I was in a long meeting and started sketching a new weekly layout in my journal. I got so focused on getting the lines straight and spacing right that I completely missed a key question my boss asked me. He had to repeat it twice and I just looked up blankly. I felt my face get hot. It was a simple question about a project deadline, but I was totally zoned out on my spread. Has anyone else had a journal moment go wrong like that?

Oh, "asked to see them and she just had to hand over a page full of swirls" - that's a special kind of nightmare right there. I love how we think we're being subtle, but really we're just one awkward question away from being exposed as full-time doodlers who also have jobs. Next time someone asks what I'm working on so intently, I'm just going to say "strategic planning" with a straight face and hope they don't ask to borrow my notes. Maybe I'll start drawing fake bullet points next to the swirls to sell it better.

My bullet journal once got me a full performance review about focus.

Oh man, I've totally done that. The zoning out is real.

Yeah, the zoning out thing @the_william mentioned is no joke. My friend got caught drawing these crazy detailed mandalas in the margins during a budget review. Her manager thought she was taking intense notes and asked to see them, and she just had to hand over a page full of swirls.
