A guy at a bar in Cincinnati changed my mind about that comedian's apology
He pointed out the guy donated his whole tour fee from that year, over two million dollars, to the groups he'd offended. Everyone online was calling it fake, but that's a real cost, not just words. Does the money actually matter more than the statement?

I really think @tessap73 nailed it with "a first step, not the finish line." That two million shows he's serious about starting to fix things, but it's gonna take years of his actual behavior to really prove he gets it.

That two million dollar donation, does it buy back lost trust?

Honestly, how much trust was really lost here? Big companies mess up all the time. A two million dollar fix seems like a pretty solid move, not just empty talk. It's not like this was some huge scandal that ruined lives. People should maybe just chill a bit.

Oh man, I see what you're saying, @ericw93. Trust isn't really something you can just buy back with a check, is it? That money helps, sure, but real trust is built on doing the right thing over a long time, not just one big flashy move. The donation feels more like a first step to me, not the finish line. They've got a lot more work to do to show they mean it.
