A talk with my sister made me rethink a comedian's old tweets
We were driving to our mom's place in Phoenix last month, and she brought up that comic who got in trouble for his jokes from 2010. I said he should just be done for good. She asked me, 'Have you watched his apology video from two years ago, the full 8 minutes?' I hadn't. She made me watch it that night. He named specific people he hurt and showed the charity work he started, not just said sorry. It felt different from a written statement. Has anyone else had a moment where a full apology video changed their mind?

A video can't fix real harm, can it?

Totally get what you mean about videos feeling different. I see this at work all the time, where a quick "my bad" email does nothing but a real talk can fix things. Felixhenderson has a point that it doesn't erase harm, but seeing the effort sometimes matters more than just the words.

But does it actually undo what he said in the first place? I mean, I get that showing charity work feels good to watch, but it kind of feels like a calculated move to me. Like, he only did that stuff after he got caught, so it doesn't really prove he changed, just that he's good at damage control. A polished video with the right music and angles can make anyone look sincere, but that doesn't mean the people he hurt are suddenly okay.
