A waitress's 2 minute apology taught me more than any PR team

Last week I was at a diner in Philly and the waitress messed up my order, brought the wrong sandwich twice. Third time she came over and just said 'look, I messed up, that's on me, no excuse' and comped my meal. No long speech, no blaming the cook, no 'I'm sorry you feel that way.' It hit me that most celebrity apologies I see on here could learn something from her. She didn't ask for forgiveness, she just owned it and moved on. Has anyone else had a small personal apology that felt more real than any big public statement you've seen?

...and honestly that reminds me of this time I locked my keys in the car at a gas station and this random dude spent like twenty minutes helping me jimmy the door open with a coat hanger. He didn't even know me, just saw me looking stupid and went for it. We never exchanged names or anything. I still think about that guy sometimes, more than I remember any official customer service thing ever. It's weird how the unplanned, no audience moments just hit different.
