Can we talk about how my favorite diner changed after the owner apologized for old tweets?
I went back to Frank's Diner on Maple Street last weekend, the one I've been going to since 2012. The owner made some dumb comments online back in 2018 and then posted a long apology video. It's been 6 years and the place is still half empty on a Saturday morning. Does an apology that old really still count, or do people just move on and never come back?

An apology from 6 years ago (and people still care)? Seems a bit much, honestly.

Oh, I see it differently. That kind of old apology might not be for the person who was upset back then. Sometimes it's more about the principle of the thing. Like, if someone lied or cheated and never faced consequences, that public apology years later can be a way to set the record straight for everyone who watched it happen, not just the one person. I've seen it where a local business owner finally admitted to shoddy work years after the fact, and it helped restore trust with the whole community even though the original customer had moved on. So the timing might seem odd, but the impact can still be real.

Yeah I dealt with something similar. Someone brought up a mistake I made years ago and I just owned it again without getting defensive. People move on faster when you don't make a big deal about it.
