Can we talk about the difference between a real apology and a PR statement?

I keep seeing people accept those corporate-style apologies with zero ownership, like when that actor from the '80s said 'I'm sorry if anyone was offended' last week, and everyone moved on, but if he can't even name what he did wrong, how is that a real apology at all?

Look for three things: they name the specific thing they did, they don't make excuses, and they say what they'll do different next time. If you don't get all three, it's just noise.

Perfect apology is a power move. Makes people distrust the smooth ones.
