Changed my mind about forgiving that influencer who faked a charity run
I was ready to write off that fitness influencer who lied about running a marathon for charity last year. Couldn't stand the fake tears in the apology video. But then I saw the actual number on the charity's website last week. They raised $47,000 for kids' sports equipment in Detroit. Turns out the race was fake but the donation was totally real. That amount stuck with me because it's enough to outfit three elementary school teams. She messed up big time but the money still helped real kids. Does a good outcome cancel out a bad lie or does it just make things more complicated?

That $47,000 number hits different when you think about actual kids getting actual equipment. Three elementary school teams is legit. But I still can't get past the lie. She built a whole fake narrative for clout and only donated after getting caught. The good outcome doesn't erase the manipulation. It just means she had the money to clean up her mess.

Yeah but does that actually make it okay though?

Wait hold on, $47,000? That's the actual number she dropped on equipment? @the_holly I thought it was like a few grand, not almost fifty thousand bucks. Crazy how she had that kind of cash just sitting around to fix things.
