Finally got why a celeb apology felt off to me

Used to just read apology posts and take them at face value, like that one from a YouTuber last month. Now I look for specifics like did they name the exact action or just say 'I'm sorry if anyone was hurt'. How do you tell if a public figure's apology is actually real?

Yeah, I used to be the same way until I saw one that was just "sorry if anyone was offended" and it clicked how empty that sounded. Now I look for them owning the specific thing they did wrong, not some vague blanket apology.

That "sorry if anyone was offended" really opened my eyes too honestly.

Exactly man, thats the whole thing right there. "Sorry if anyone was offended" is just a cop out, it shifts blame to the people who got hurt instead of the person who did the hurting. I saw one that was like "my apologies to those I may have upset" and it made me realize how hollow that kind of apology really is. Once I started paying attention, I noticed how many people just use vague language to avoid actually admitting fault. Owning the specific action like "I said something dumb about X and I understand why that was wrong" changes everything. Its night and day when you hear someone actually take responsibility instead of hiding behind corporate speak.
