Gave that beauty influencer's apology a second watch after I found out she lied about the timeline
She said she made the joke in 2018 when it was actually 2022 and I wasted 45 minutes feeling bad for someone who just got caught, has anyone else gone back and factchecked a public apology after the initial emotional wave?

omg i did the exact same thing with a different influencer last month, watched her whole crying apology and felt bad until someone pointed out the dates didnt line up. what helped me was screenshotting the original video and comparing it to her apology side by side, really showed how she was twisting the story. now i just wait a day before watching any apology video, gives me time to see if the receipts come out first. also i started checking the pinned comments on those posts cause people usually do the digging for you lol

Did your friend happen to screenshot anything to keep the receipts? My coworker Sarah watched a food blogger's apology for a fake giveaway and actually saved screenshots from the original post before it got deleted. She ended up posting them in the comments when the blogger started editing her timeline. It's wild how many people just go with the first emotional story without checking dates.
