Got a little win with that apology from the comedian who said those awful jokes 10 years ago
I watched that whole 20 minute apology video from the guy who did the racist stand-up bits in 2014 and I actually felt like he meant it this time. He didn't just say 'I'm sorry if anyone was offended' which is the classic fake move you know? But then I saw he's still friends with the same edgy crowd on Instagram so do you think that cancels out a sincere apology?

Had a friend who forgave someone similar and then got dragged right back into the drama.

The hard truth is that some people don't change, they just get better at hiding it until they need something again. The key is to watch what they do, not what they say. If this person hasn't shown real change over months, not just a few days of being nice, then forgiveness just gives them another chance to mess things up. I always tell people to set a hard boundary first and stick to it no matter what. It's better to have a few quiet years of peace than a lifetime of the same old drama repeating itself.
