Hit 500 genuine followers on my art account today
Found 12 of them were from a cancel culture mob I helped talk down last year and it felt way better than the bot follows ever did, has anyone else had haters turn into actual supporters?

I read somewhere that people who go out of their way to cancel others often just want to feel heard and part of something, so when you actually talk to them respectfully they flip. That tracks with what you're saying about those 12 folks. It's kinda wild how the internet makes us think everyone's either a diehard fan or a sworn enemy, but real talk is way more messy. I've had a couple people come back to my old posts after we argued about a dumb game update and admit I was right, and it caught me off guard. Honestly, those conversions feel more genuine than any bot or random follow because you know they actually changed their mind about you.

Gotta push back a little on that, @jessem59... not everyone who cancels someone is just looking to feel heard. Some of them are just bored and looking for a target, you know? I've seen people pile on someone for a joke that didn't land, and they didn't want a conversation, they wanted to feel powerful for a minute. But yeah, the ones who actually flip when you talk to them... those are the ones who were genuinely hurt or frustrated, not just trolls. It's rare though, most people just double down or disappear.
