Just realized I was wrong about the James Gunn apology from 2018
Three years ago I was firmly in the camp that his old tweets were unforgivable and the Disney firing was correct, no debate. Last week I sat down and read his full apology statement from July 2018 again, plus the two follow up interviews he did in 2019, and something clicked for me. He did not blame hackers or say it was just jokes, he said the words were awful and he took full blame, then stayed off social media for months. I compared that to the half sorry posts I see from other celebs in this community and the gap is huge. I still think the tweets were bad, I just think a real apology plus years of quiet work should count for something. Has anyone here changed their mind on a specific apology after going back and reading the original statement?
