My old boss apologized for stealing my lunch, but it took 6 years and a group chat

Last week in Austin, my former manager finally owned up to eating my brisket leftovers back in 2019, right after I found the old office chat where I'd called him out. He said he'd forgotten, but the screenshot in the thread says otherwise, so do I actually buy his act now or is this just damage control because he's running for city council?
