Saw a faded mural of a comedian in Philly that got me thinking about old jokes
I was walking through South Street in Philadelphia last weekend and saw this huge, faded mural of a comedian who got canceled hard maybe five years ago. The paint is peeling, and someone had tagged over part of his face. It used to be a big deal, a local landmark. Now it's just this ghost on a brick wall. It made me wonder if the guy ever gave a real apology or if he just vanished. I remember his specials used to kill, but the stuff he said doesn't fly at all now. Seeing that mural rot felt like seeing the whole debate about forgiving public figures just left to fade away too. Does a ruined painting mean we've decided, or did we just forget to take it down?

Totally get what you mean about the vibe shift. I had that with a podcast host I loved. They started doing these weird ads for a crypto thing and it just felt so slimy, like they were selling out the trust we had. It wasn't one big thing, just a slow drip of bad choices that made me feel dumb for ever listening. I finally deleted the whole feed and it was such a relief. That mural fading away is probably the same feeling, just painted on a wall.

Yeah, I was a big fan for a long time too. But seeing that last video where they were clearly just pushing a bad product for money, that was it for me. It felt fake, like they didn't care about the stuff they used to talk about. @phoenix_singh25 has the right idea, honestly. I just unsubscribed and haven't looked back.

What made you finally cut them off? Was it something specific they did, or just a general vibe shift over time?
