Showerthought: I was positive that guy from my gym who got canceled for old tweets was faking his apology, 8 months later I actually believe him
So back in November this guy who runs a small fitness page got dragged for some tweets he posted in 2014. Like 11 tweets, all garbage. He put out a video apology that was 90 seconds long and I rolled my eyes hard. Felt like a PR script. I even commented that he was just sorry he got caught.
Then he actually disappeared. Stopped posting for like 5 months. When he came back he didn't do a redemption tour or sell a course about it. He just started posting again and quietly linked a thing where he'd been doing volunteer work at a youth center in Baltimore since January. His friend confirmed it in a comment, not him.
I still think most apologies are damage control. But this one got me. The proof wasn't in the words, it was in the 5 months of nothing.
Anyone else changed their mind on a specific apology after seeing what the person did next?
