That 2019 podcast apology from my favorite comic still bugs me

I was driving through Austin when that old episode resurfaced where he made those trans jokes. He put out a 7 minute apology video saying he was 'ignorant' and needed to learn, but then he kept doing the same bit at his next show. My buddy thinks the apology was real because he donated to a charity, but I think that's just a tax write off. Do you judge a public figure's apology by their words or by what they do on stage 6 months later?

You ever watch an apology and wonder if they actually mean it, or if they just got caught? I used to give people the benefit of the doubt. But after seeing the same comic do a similar bit at a festival last year, I realized the stage tells the truth way more than the video.
